
Iowa celebrates first horticulture week
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has proclaimed June 16-22, 2024, as the state’s first “Iowa Horticulture Week,” highlighting the vital role horticulture plays in Iowa’s economy, environment and communities.
This initiative, inspired by Mike Gooder of Plantpeddler and supported by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, aims to elevate the recognition of horticulture within the state, which is a significant contributor to Iowa’s economy, encompassing sectors such as fruit and vegetable production, arboriculture, floriculture, landscaping, nursery and greenhouse operations, farmer’s markets and agritourism.
The week-long celebration will feature various events and activities designed to showcase the diverse contributions of horticulture to Iowa’s economy and quality of life. Join the fun on social media with #IowaHortWeek.
