Minnesota Grower Passes Away

Thomas J. Hermes of Hermes Floral Co. in St. Paul and Becker, Minnesota, passed away on Jan. 5.
Along with his brothers, Hermes owned and operated Hermes Floral Co. until he retired in 1998. 
The business was started by his grandfather in 1906. They ran 8 acres of greenhouse production producing potted plants and cut flowers. The major crops at the time were roses, alstroemeria, cut lilies, cyclamen and poinsettias.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and the company of family and good friends. He was very artistic and enjoyed spending time taking pictures.
Funeral services are scheduled to take place Jan. 12, 2018 in Elk River, Minnesota.
