The American Floral Endowment (AFE) and New Hampshire horticulture leaders have established the New Hampshire Horticulture Research Fund to support horticulture and floriculture research and education across New Hampshire and the Northeast.

The fund was created through past contributions to the New Hampshire Horticulture Endowment of the New Hampshire Plant Growers Association (NHPGA). It is intended to provide long-term support for research, innovation and educational initiatives that address industry needs and benefit growers throughout the region.

Henry Huntington, president and CEO of Pleasant View Gardens and founder and partner of Proven Winners, said the partnership combines the missions of the organizations with AFE’s resources to expand support for horticulture research and education.

Under the partnership, AFE will administer the fund and oversee the research review process. The fund is designed to support projects with practical applications for growers while remaining flexible enough to address emerging industry priorities.

Doug Cole, president of D.S. Cole Growers, said moving the endowment funds to AFE will improve management of the resources and help support future research grants.

NHPGA has also established a research fund through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Annual distributions from that fund will be directed to AFE to support research and educational projects selected through AFE’s established review process.
