New Varieties Debut at Sakata Retail Day

On Friday, Aug. 12, Sakata hosted its first annual Retail Day at the company’s Woodland, California station. Retail Day allowed retail and foodservice buyers to get a look at an array of Sakata varieties in the field.

Displayed varieties include Infinite Gold cantaloupe, line of specialty tomatoes, and Millennium and Diamante broccoli.

Sakata also displayed a new line-up of baby leaf spinach: C2-606, Seaside, Riverside, Lakeside and Oceanside.

Retail Day is part of a marketing push to educate the retail market about Sakata products and bridge the gap between different levels of the supply chain, according to the company. The story of “seed to table” is an important one to understand, and creates better consumer education and awareness of the food they’re consuming, according to Sakata.
