OFA Gives Back
With more than 600 companies exhibiting in 1,500 exhibit spaces and nearly 10,000 horticulture industry professionals expected to attend, there is sure to be an abundance of everything at OFA Short Course this year – including plant material. At the close of each year’s OFA Short Course, extra plant material remaining on the trade show floor and in the decorated areas of the Columbus Convention Center is donated by OFA – an Association of Floriculture Professionals. For several years, OFA has partnered with universities hospitals and mental health facilities to give them access to this extra plant material.
This year, the local Habitat for Humanity, Columbus Housing Partnership and Ronald McDonald House will receive the donations. Habitat for Humanity and the Columbus Housing Partnership will use the plant material to provide landscaping to homeowners. The Ronald McDonald House and local nursing homes will have approximately 500 fresh floral arrangements delivered, courtesy of designers, volunteers and FTD Flower Exchange.
