Pleasant View Announces Open Garden DaySource: Pen & Petal

If you didn’t make it to this year’s California Spring Trials, Pleasant View Gardens will offer an inside look at its new varieties and industry trends at its Open Garden Day, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 5. The event is open to all members of the industry.

It’s an opportunity to explore the company’s display gardens in Loudon, N.H., and check out more than 500 Proven Winners and Proven Selections varieties’ performance, bloom and habit – in the ground and in containers.

Ideas on display at Open Garden Day will include three ways to organize the garden center: by color, by interest or by need. Supporting POP coordinates colors such as purple, blue and red; pushes plants chosen for interests such as butterfly or hummingbird gardening; or promotes plants that are deer resistant, or optimal for sun or shade. Recipes for different retail vignettes complete the picture.

Speakers will also lead peer-to-peer sessions on Proven Winners programs, and Pleasant View and Proven Winners staff will be on hand to answer questions.

At Pembroke, visitors can take a guided tour and see the facility’s biomass burner firsthand. Bring a truck, and load up on the hottest summer and fall perennials at The Yard, Pleasant View’s pick-up area.
