Santa Barbara Welcomes First Recreational Cannabis Dispensary
Farmacy officially opened its doors on Saturday, Aug. 24. with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by hundreds of people who also lined up to be the first to purchase cannabis products legally in Santa Barbara.
Owner Graham Farrar secured one of three adult-use cannabis dispensary permits in the city.
“We are very much making history,” he said. “Never before have we had a 21+ cannabis dispensary. We like to think of ourselves as a cannabis boutique.”
Farrar took a lot of criticism from opponents of cannabis growers in the area who have long complained of the small and other nuisances. He said the opposition is “small but loud.”
At the grand opening, customers were eager and waited patiently to browse the 350 different cannabis products ranging from edibles and tinctures to lotions and more.
Farmacy is located on the corner of Mission and De La Vina Streets in a commercially zoned area with off-street parking, two security guards and 14 surveillance cameras.
The shop is open every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
