Terra Nova Nurseries has released Echinacea ‘Princess Citrus’, a compact perennial bred specifically for container production. The new variety features lime green and lemon-yellow blooms that develop cantaloupe tones over time and is part of the company’s Echinacea Princess series.
Citrus flowers from June through October and thrives in full sun with well-drained, coarse soil. It is deer-resistant and attracts pollinators and hummingbirds, making it appealing for retail growers and landscape professionals alike.

Growers are advised to let the plants dry moderately between waterings in greenhouse conditions. The finish time is six to eight weeks from liner to 4-inch pot and 12 to 14 weeks from liner to 1-gallon pot. At maturity, the plant reaches 10 inches tall with a 17-inch flower height and 16-inch spread. It is hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 9.
Grower resources, including a plant profile and growing guidelines, are available on the company’s website. These documents offer information on fertilization, water needs and cultural practices for finishing the variety.
