Terra Nova Nurseries Introduces New Echinacea
Terra Nova Nurseries has released a sneak peek of its new Echinacea PRIMA ‘Tiger’, the latest addition to the Echinacea PRIMA collection. This echinacea variety has excellent foliage and displays fragrant, 4-inch, orange-gold flowers that cover the plant for months.
Echinacea PRIMA ‘Tiger’ is a great pollinator attractor that is easy to grow and very versatile. This plant performs well in borders, mixed beds, masses, and containers. Retailers will enjoy the dwarf stature and large daisy-like flowers of Echinacea PRIMA ‘Tiger’.
USDA Hardiness Zones for Echinacea PRIMA ‘Tiger’ are 4-9, and its exposure allows for full sun. This plant likes to be moderately dry between waterings. It has a foliage height of 10 inches, a foliage spread of 10 inches, and a flower height of 16 inches.
Finish time to a 4-inch pot is six to eight weeks. The Terra Nova breeding team recommends that growers plant Echinacea PRIMA ‘Tiger’ in a well-drained media and do not cover the crown with soil by planting too deeply. The variety grows best in temperatures that range between 50 to 55 F for nights and 60 to 65 F during the day.
Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety so growers can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements and other insights provided by the breeding team.
