Terra Nova Nurseries Joins ThinkPlants

Terra Nova Nurseries has joined the ThinkPlants network of breeders, growers and suppliers.

ThinkPlants’ founding partners Danziger and Syngenta Flowers North America confirmed Terra Nova Nurseries addition to the consortium, whereas the supply of all Terra Nova Nurseries cutting-produced perennials will be established at the Danziger Guatemala cutting farm for North American supply. The partnership combines innovative plant genetics from elite stock with a cooperative marketing and supply strategy under a unified organization.

“The strategic partnership allows Terra Nova Nurseries the ability to introduce and market select varieties alongside respected growers and breeders allied with the program,” said Ken Brown, managing owner of Terra Nova Nurseries. “We believe the initiative will provide all companies under the ThinkPlants umbrella tremendous and efficient resources to enhance the offering of perennial genetics to the North American market.”

Launch of the new partnership is being timed with California Spring Trials 2019. ThinkPlants will display Terra Nova Nurseries’ select perennials at the organization’s trial site located at the Syngenta Flowers location in Gilroy, California.

Terra Nova Nurseries will also exhibit new varieties during California Spring Trials 2019 at the Pacific Plug & Liner site in Watsonville, California.

Terra Nova Nurseries’ alliance with ThinkPlants comes on the heels of recent additions to the network by Kapiteyn and Unex. “Terra Nova Nurseries is known for some of the world’s best in perennial breeding,” said Joey Wiseman, head of ThinkPlants. “With Terra Nova Nurseries and each of our partners, ThinkPlants is a creative and strong collaboration that offers the highest quality perennials, bulbs and more. We are committed to making perennial programs easier and more efficient for growers, brokers, and retailers.”

Each ThinkPlants partner brings expertise in plant breeding, horticulture, technical support, supply chain, sales, and marketing. It is the strength of these companies working together, which creates such a powerful resource for the North American nursery industry.

Danziger and Syngenta offer respective perennial portfolios in the United States and Canada under the ThinkPlants initiative. Kapiteyn b.v. of Breezand, the Netherlands, the breeder and supplier of Captain Callas, provides top-quality bulbs to the program. Unex USA, LLC, a supplier of bareroot perennials and bulbs from Holland, offers bare root perennials and bulbs in North America for ThinkPlants.
