UF IFAS offers advanced greenhouse climate course online

The University of Florida IFAS Extension will offer an advanced greenhouse climate management course from April 13 to May 11, 2026.

The online course covers photoperiod, supplemental lighting, plant energy balance, photosynthesis, vapor pressure deficit and environmental control systems. It is designed for experienced growers.

Instructors include university researchers and industry specialists from institutions such as Michigan State University, Clemson University and USDA-ARS, along with technology providers.

The course is part of the Elite Grower Program and had a 92% completion rate in the previous year. Participants typically spend about five hours per week completing eight modules over four weeks.

There is a cost is per participant, with discounts available for group registrations.

For greenhouse growers, the course provides training on optimizing environmental conditions, improving crop timing and managing inputs through data-driven climate control strategies.
