The University of Florida IFAS Extension will offer an online course focused on disease management for greenhouse and nursery growers from March 30 to April 24.

Practical Disease Management is part of the Plant Health Professional Certificate program and covers disease prevention, pathogen development and spread, and management strategies using organic and conventional approaches.

The course also includes guidance on safe fungicide handling and application, which is critical for greenhouse operations managing crop health and regulatory compliance.

Instruction is provided through pre-recorded lectures, weekly modules, quizzes and an interactive discussion board with university faculty. Participants can complete the course at their own pace, with an estimated time commitment of about four hours per week.

The course is taught in English and Spanish and is led by Carrie Harmon, director of the UF/IFAS Plant Diagnostic Center. It is designed for growers who already have experience identifying plant diseases and want to improve management decisions.

The program reported a 91% completion rate in the previous year. Registration costs $293 per participant, with discounts available for group enrollment.
