University of Florida to offer cuttings and stock plant management course beginning Aug. 17
University of Florida IFAS Extension will offer a four-week online course on cuttings and stock plant management beginning Aug. 17, 2026.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) Extension will launch a new online course, Cuttings and Stock Plant Management, on Aug. 17 as part of its Greenhouse Training Online Elite Grower program.
The four-week course runs through Sept. 18, 2026, and is designed for greenhouse growers who propagate cuttings or manage stock plants in the United States and internationally. Instruction will be offered in English and Spanish.
The course will be taught by Jim Faust, professor at Clemson University, and John Dole, professor at North Carolina State University. Topics include stock plant management, cutting production, cold chain management from harvest through sticking, propagation environments, irrigation practices and propagation of key herbaceous crop species.
Participants will complete eight online learning modules released over four weeks. Course materials include pre-recorded videos, quizzes and an interactive discussion board with the instructors. Students work at their own pace, with an estimated time commitment of about six hours per week.
There is a registration costs per participant. The program also offers a 20% discount for organizations registering five or more employees.
