AFE opens 2025-2026 research proposal applications
The American Floral Endowment (AFE) is now accepting research proposal applications for the 2025-2026 funding cycle.
Funding innovative research is a critical pillar of AFE’s mission to advance the floriculture industry. Proposals should focus on cost and labor savings, pest and disease management, sustainability, and other solutions to promote healthier, longer-lasting flowers and plants, as well as a robust floriculture industry.
Research priorities
- Sustainable production and handling practices
- Automation, technology, and AI for labor savings
- Biocontrol of pests
- Climate change impact reduction
- Advanced breeding technology, including CRISPR
- Long-term storage and shipping conditions
- Production technology
- Postharvest technology
- Botrytis control and management
- Thrips control and management
AFE’s fiscal year begins on July 1 and runs through June 30; funding for projects starts in July of the next fiscal year.
