Ball Seed introduces updated packaging, new systems
Ball Seed has moved its seed packaging operations into newly built facilities in West Chicago, enhancing seed distribution and processing capabilities. The transition underscores the company’s commitment to seed supply efficiency.
The company also unveiled redesigned product packaging, now featuring a 2D QR code on seed packets. This new system allows greenhouse growers to easily scan the code with a smartphone or scanning device to access real-time information, including seed vigor, germination rates, and technical support.
“Customer access to seed information has never been easier,” said Jim Kennedy, senior commercial director of Ball Seed. “Growers can use the data found on our seed packets to optimize their sowing and germination space.”
The updated packaging provides essential seed data such as the Ball Vigor Index and current germination rates, aiding growers in making informed decisions and improving production efficiency. Ball Seed’s rigorous testing ensures that seeds meet high-quality standards and are ready for same-day shipping.
The new systems and labels are designed to support data-driven decision-making for greenhouse growers, improving overall seed performance and reliability throughout the growing season.
