Syngenta receives EPA approval for Trefinti nematicide, fungicide
Syngenta has received federal registration from the Environmental Protection Agency for Trefinti nematicide/fungicide, a new product designed to control nematodes and certain plant diseases in ornamental crops. State registrations are in progress, and product availability is expected in January.
Powered by TYMIRIUM technology, Trefinti provides systemic control of key plant-parasitic nematodes and pathogens that affect both roots and foliage. The active ingredient, classified as a FRAC Group 7 and IRAC Group N-3 mode of action, is absorbed by roots and translocated throughout the plant canopy to protect against foliar nematodes and diseases such as Fusarium spp. and powdery mildew.
“Nematodes are an often-overlooked pest that can cause significant damage to plant roots and foliage in high-value ornamental crops grown in the nursery and landscape,” said Nancy Rechcigl, technical services manager for ornamentals for Syngenta Professional Solutions. “Trefinti provides protection from the roots, targeting and controlling damaging nematodes to ensure overall plant health.”
Carson Cashwell, market manager for ornamentals for Syngenta Professional Solutions, said the company’s continued investment in research and development led to Trefinti’s introduction to address nematode feeding and pathogen pressure.
Trefinti is intended for preventive use to help growers strengthen plant resilience and maintain overall crop health in greenhouse and nursery production.
Additional Trefinti product information, label updates and trial data is available.
