It’s Time to Move Forward By Tim Hodson

Petal It Forward will take place Oct. 11 and now is your chance to join in on the fun.

Petal It Forward is an initiative launched three years ago by the Society of American Florists (SAF).

During this “random acts of kindness” flower giveaway, consumers receive two flower bouquets or plants — one to keep and one to share and show how flowers make people happy. Then, they are encouraged to post on social media about their experience using the hashtag #petalitforward.

The 2016 campaign included 262 events in 234 cities in all 50 states, generating more 328 million consumer impressions showcasing the positive impact flowers have on emotional well-being.

According to the SAF, there currently are approximately 59 growers, retailers, wholesalers and other suppliers in 31 states that have signed up to participate in this year’s festivities.

SAF’s goal is to again have Petal It Forward events take place in all 50 states and is looking for more companies and individuals to participate.

The Petal It Forward program is a great opportunity for you and your company to really hit the bricks and let people know how great your products are and what they can do for people.

“It’s a win-win for your business to participate. For little effort, you give consumers the opportunity to experience the scientifically proven happiness that occurs when you give and receive flowers,” says Jennifer Sparks, SAF’s vice president of marketing. “At the same time, you position your business as a positive force in your community. That makes consumers feel good about you, which goes a long way in establishing customer loyalty. And, you give a morale boost to employees who play a part.”

To sign up to participate in the 2017 program, just go to www.safnow.org/pifform and fill out the participation form.
