Container Gardening WorkshopsSource: OFA

OFA has decided to do something new this year for its traveling seminar series: The Container Gardening Craze Continues”¦Are You Ready for Your Customers’ Requests? The workshops will be presented by Mike Benken and Val Eason from HJ Benken Florist & Greenhouse, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mike and Val will share their knowledge about what they are doing at Benken’s to make container gardening a successful and profitable part of the business. Whether you want to enhance your existing work with mixed containers or are just now ready to make it a successful part of your business, this session will offer something you can implement for your spring sales. They will share information addressing both the business and practical angles of mixed container gardening.

Attendees will learn about merchandising, marketing, pricing, custom orders, and care and handling. They will also learn about creating successful and unique plant combinations by choosing the right plants to maximize color, texture, shape and cultural requirements. During the workshop, Mike and Val will plant a variety of plant material in an assortment of containers.

Registration for the workshops is $50 for OFA and Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association members or $75 for non-members. The following are the dates and locations for the workshops:

• Akron, Ohio – Tuesday, March 28, 1-4 p.m., Donzell’s Flower & Garden Center
• Delaware, Ohio – Wednesday, March 29, 1-4 p.m., A Proper Garden
• Cincinnati, Ohio – Thursday, March 30, 1-4 p.m., HJ Benken Florist & Greenhouse
