FNGLA Receives $30,000 to Strengthen Risk Management EducationSource: FNGLA

The Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association (FNGLA), which represents Florida’s environmental horticulture industry, has been awarded $30,000 from the USDA Risk Management Education Partnership agreements. The funding was awarded for the 2007 Great Southern Tree Conference, 2008 FNGLA’s Floriculture Field Days and the 2008 FNATS Short Course.

The agreements fund projects to develop new risk management tools.

“These partnerships can provide producers with the information and resources to make informed decisions about crop insurance and other risk management strategies,” says Acting Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner. “Our goal is to improve revenue and reduce risks for the producers we serve.”

Risk Management and Crop Insurance Education Partnerships will use $9.6 million to deliver risk management and crop insurance education through partnership and cooperative agreements under three different programs. The Small Sessions Education Partnership Agreements, under which FNGLA has received funding, provides up to $10,000 for each educational program. Support goes toward programs teaching financial management skills, tax advice and implications, family dynamics and economics, bridging the gap between generations, succeeding at business succession, conflict prevention/resolution in family businesses and family farm management.
