Proven Winners ColorChoice Announces Innovation Award WinnerSource: Spring Meadow Nursery

Proven Winners ColorChoice recently presented its 2009 Innovation Award to Overdevest Nurseries. The annual award recognizes forward thinking and excellence in the marketing of Proven Winners ColorChoice branded shrubs.

Tim Wood and Gary Nienhuis of Proven Winners ColorChoice presented the trophy to President Ed Overdevest at a special reception on Jan. 6 at the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show.

Overdevest Nurseries is a wholesale-only grower based in Bridgeton, N.J. Founded in 1952, Overdevest offers 55 Proven Winners ColorChoice shrub varieties to its independent garden center customers and distributors throughout the East Coast. Overdevest grows more than 1,700 varieties of shrubs, trees, vines and perennials on approximately 210 acres.

“[Overdevest’s] level of participation in promoting the brand is an example of how licensees and Proven Winners ColorChoice can work together for the benefit of the grower, retailer and consumer,” said Nienhuis.

As part of the award, Overdevest took home the Innovation Award Trophy, a replica of Rodin’s famous “The Thinker” sculpture. Some have compared the trophy to the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup; it moves from year to year with each subsequent winner, after being engraved with the names of previous winners. Spring Meadow Nursery, Inc., the developer of Proven Winners ColorChoice branded shrubs, recognizes just one licensed partner each year to with an Innovation Award. Overdevest also will be awarded with a free four-color advertisement in a regional publication, as well as top listing among Proven Winners ColorChoice’s Gold Key growers in 2010.
