Angelonia

The angelonia Actors have been upgraded to have larger flowers and a full plant habit. Varieties in this series are excellent for late spring and early summer sales. They are suitable for 6-inch pots and larger. In the garden, they grow to 16 inches tall and 8 inches wide.

Maintain temperatures at 62 to 65° F nights and a minimum of 70° F days. Angelonia thrive in warm temperature conditions. Cool temperatures will slow growth and may cause yellowing of foliage.

Water thoroughly and let soil dry between irrigations. Do not keep consistently wet or root rot problems may develop. The pH of the soil should be maintained at 5.5 to 6.2. Feed with a balanced feed at 150- to 250-ppm nitrogen. In a soilless mix, additional iron may be required. An EC level of 1.0 to 1.6 is optimum.

Apply a soft pinch once the plant is established, after transplant but before the stem becomes touch. For larger containers, an additional pinch is recommended.
Maintain 2,500 to 5,000 foot-candles to build plant structure and thick stems. Flowering is not related to day length but total light accumulation.
