Pentas

Starcluster is a new series of vegetative pentas bred to perform through hot summer conditions. Large flower clusters are supported by strong stems to ensure consistent quality at retail.

New flowers form over spent blooms. No deadheading is required, which means low maintenance for busy consumers. Starcluster pentas are suited for gallons or larger. They are well branched for a strong showing in containers or landscapes.

Maintain media pH at 6.4 to 6.8 to prevent magnesium and iron toxicity. Allow media to dry down moderately between irrigations to prevent micronutrient deficiency. Maintain EC level at 1.5 to 1.8.

Starcluster prefers temperatures at 65 to 68° F nights and 70 to 75° F days. Average daily temperatures below 62° F will delay development and increase crop time.

Provide 3,500 to 4,500 foot-candles over a 13- to 14-hour period to hasten flower induction. Supplemental lighting under low light conditions at 350 to 450 foot-candles will enhance shoot and root growth. Pentas are quantitative long-day plants, which means they flower faster under long days.
