Calibrachoa

Aloha calibrachoa boasts big flowers with tropical colors. Plants feature medium vigor and are ideal for basket production. Their semi-upright growth habit is very suitable for mixed planters.

Rooted cuttings should be watered well before transplanting. Initial watering is improved if the finish container root medium is moistened before transplanting. Use a disease-free, well-aerated rooting medium with a pH of 5.2-5.5 and EC less than 1.5.

Air temperature should be maintained at 65-75° F day and night. Bottom heat at 70-74° F will enhance and improve uniformity of rooting. During rooting, a light level of 1,500-2,000 foot-candles is best. After potting liners, manage water and humidity to reduce occurrences of diseases. Do not overwater, as it can cause iron deficiency.

Use a growing temperature of 55-70° F day and 55-60° F night with good circulation for best growth. Light levels should be 5,000-8,000 foot-candles for improved plant form.

Fertilize liners with 100-ppm nitrogen as soon as roots are visible. Fertilizer can be increased to 150- to 200-ppm nitrogen as roots develop. An acidifying fertilizer will help maintain a lower pH.

PGR applications greatly improve calibrachoa form and flower presentation. Many different PGR application techniques can be used to achieve desired results.
