UConn to Host Hydroponics, Soilless Systems Workshop

The Greenhouse Research & Extension Program at the University of Connecticut is hosting a program on Greenhouse Vegetable Production in Hydroponics and Soilless Systems on Dec. 9, at the UConn Storrs campus. The program is designed for growers who are already growing greenhouse vegetables and would like to improve their production techniques.

Featured speakers include:

• Neil Mattson, Cornell University, on Getting the Most out of the greenhouse environment
• Ryan Dickson, University of New Hampshire, on Greener Greens: Strategies to Avoid Yellow Crops
• Cora McGehee, UConn, on Biofungicides trials on Edible Greens (tour)
• Richard McAvoy, UConn, on Growing Vine Crops in the Greenhouse
• Anissa Poleatewich, University of New Hampshire, on Microbes in Hydroponic Crops
• Elwood Roberts, Biobest, on An Introduction to Basic Biological Control Concepts for Insect and Mite Pests

Five pesticide recertification credits will be available for private applicators.

Space is limited to 40 attendees. Early registration costs are $55 per person by Dec. 1, and $70 per person after Dec. 1.
