AAS Approves New Judges, Display Gardens and Treasurer

All-America Selections, the only non-profit organization for trialing and testing new ornamental and vegetable varieties for the home consumer, met recently during the American Seed Trade Association’s Annual Flower and Vegetable Seed Conference in San Diego, California.

During that meeting the following new officer, judges and Display Gardens were approved.

New Treasurer is Alex Augustyniak, general manager of West Coast Seeds, Delta, British Columbia. Alex takes over as Patty Buskirk of Seeds By Design completes her term serving the AAS Board as Treasurer since 2013.

Recently approved judges, who are judging the 2018 AAS trials as their first trial are:

  • Adam Flint, PanAmerican Seed, Ornamental Seed judge, Santa Paula, California
  • Alex Augustyniak, West Coast Seeds, Ornamental Seed judge, Delta, B.C.
  • Aubrey Cooper, LSU Ag Center, Ornamental Seed judge, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Brian Minter, Minter Gardens, added the Ornamental Seed trial, Chilliwack, B.C.
  • Chris Krabbenhoeft, Denver Botanic Garden, Edible judge, Littleton, Colorado
  • Jeff Mills, Monsanto, Edible judge, Woodland, California
  • Jeff Werner, Harris Seeds, Edible trial, Rochester, New York
  • Leigh Geschwill, F&B Farm and Nursery, Ornamental Vegetative judge, Woodburn, Oregon
  • Mark Konlock, Green Bay Botanical Garden,  Ornamental Vegetative trial, Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • Noah Schwartz, Neal Mast Greenhouse, Ornamental Seed and Ornamental Vegetative judge, Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Robert Durgy, CT Ag Experiment Station, added the Ornamental Seed trial in Griswold, Connecticut
  • Scott Evans, Nebraska Extension, Ornamental Seed, in Omaha, Nebraska
  • Sharon Rosen, Pure Line Seeds, Edible trial in Munich, Minnesota
  • Solange Blais, Norseco, Ornamental Seed, Laval, Quebex
  • Stephanie Makela, Pure Line Seeds, Edible trial, Warden, Washington

Newly approved Display Gardens that are officially showcasing AAS Winners for the first time in 2018 are:

  • Davidson Academy in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton, Massachusetts
  • Hendricks County MG Demo Garden in Danville, Indiana
  • Kansas State Univ. Horticulture Research and Extension Center in Olathe, Kansas
  • Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Pierce College Horticulture in Woodland Hills, California
  • Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in Oakdale, Pennsylvania
  • The DIG in Ellijay, Georgia
  • Washington Park Botanical Garden in Springfield, Illinois
  • West Coast Seeds in Delta, British Columbia
  • Willow Oaks in Richmond, Virgiania
