Take the Time to Learn By Tim Hodson

Have you been keeping up with the latest industry webinars?

If you haven’t, you should. It is well worth your time.

GPN recently presented a webinar on greenhouse sensor technologies, and later this week AmericanHort is presenting one on the newly enacted trucking regulations and what they means for growers.

On March 15, AmericanHort’s webinar on the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate and its impact on the horticulture industry will take place at 2:30 EST.

During the webinar, Andy Bruney of T. Load Specialties will discuss how growers can manage these new regulations.

Load Specialities is a transportation company based in Columbus, Ohio. The company has more than 25 years of experience in coordinating truck load shipments throughout the United States, specializing in a multitude of freight categories, including nursery and agricultural products.

During the presentation, Bruney will provide general background information on the ELD mandate and the hours of service rules. He also will examine how these new regulations will affect the entire logistics industry.

More importantly, he will look at how the mandate impacts growers and retailers and what it means for the shipping and receiving of horticultural products.

AmericanHort’s Director of Government Affairs, Tal Coley, also will be participating in the webinar, providing insights from Washington, D.C.

The webinar is free, but you must pre-register by March14, at AmericanHort.org.

In Case You Missed It

If you missed the recent webinar on “Better Sensor Technologies for Today’s Modern Greenhouses,” you can now access the presentation on-demand on our website. During the one-hour webinar, Justin Walsh of Vaisala takes a look at how you can enhance your greenhouse with the latest in sensor technologies.

GPN and Vaisala originally presented the webinar on March 1, but now you can watch and listen to Justin’s presentation on-demand. To learn more about the free webinar go to www.gpnmag.com/edwebinar.

Also on that page, you will find all of GPN’s archived webinars from 2017 on topics such as avoiding PGR mistakes, the principles of CEA and disease management.
