Dates to Circle — and Take Action By Tim Hodson

Now that Cultivate’19 is in the books, it’s time to start looking at the rest of AmericanHort’s fall education season.

The Plug & Cutting Conference is scheduled to take place Sept. 4-6, in Concord, North Carolina. Last year, AmericanHort was forced to cancel this conference due to the looming threat of Hurricane Florence.

This conference focuses on best practices for young plant production through cutting edge research, a hands-on workshop and an in-depth tour of two of the region’s leading floriculture producers.

The conference will again be at the Embassy Suites-Concord. On Sept. 4, the Production Tour will include stops at Metrolina Greenhouses and Rockwell Farms. There will also be a workshop on Biocontrols for Propagators taking place on Sept. 4. The educational sessions and trade show are scheduled for Sept. 5 and 6.

On Sept. 16-18, AmericanHort’s Impact Washington will meet in in Washington, D.C. This two-day advocacy summit is an opportunity for business owners and leaders to get hands-on and take action in Washington.

During the summit, participants will hear from elected leaders, their staffs and other policy experts on critical issues facing our industry. Attendees can share their experiences directly with policy makers, providing real-world context and help influence the decisions being made.

In late September, Chicago will host the 2019 Landscape Operations Tour. The tour will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 1. This is an opportunity to network with leaders in the landscaping industry while touring seven world-class landscaping companies and learn more about such topics as sustainability, product and service specialization and operational efficiency.
