Proven Winners Debuts Facebook Group to Aid IGCs

A new Facebook group to help independent garden centers meet some of the challenges they are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic recently debuted from the team at Proven Winners.

The Facebook group, Proven Winners IGC Connect, is set up exclusively for IGCs to share information, ideas and content to help their retail operations in these extraordinary times.

Members of the Facebook group will have access to both Proven Winners’ resources as well as external resources; IGCs will be able to discuss best practices and address challenges/solutions they are encountering; and they will be able to share feel-good stories both from the horticulture world as well as outside the industry.

There also will be DIY content and children’s gardening ideas that retailers can share and implement in their own businesses.

Users will have access to many different free downloadable resources on Google Drive including variety photos, a spreadsheet of variety names and descriptions, culture information, social media graphics, printable bench cards and more.

Many of these graphics help emphasize the benefits of gardening and can be customized to meet an IGC’s specific needs.

Proven Winners is also rolling out a children’s gardening initiative with the company’s mission for children to develop a life-long appreciation of gardening while growing closer to their families. Club Sprouts will include garden-based educational activities for children ages 5-10 where they will learn about the care involved in planning, nurturing and enjoying the benefits of gardening and environmental stewardship.

Jessica DeGraaf and Meghan Owens, Proven Winners retail account managers, will facilitate the conversations in the group as well as add updates and fresh content.

DeGraaf and Owens also said the new Facebook group will also have great potential for IGCs beyond the COVID-19 crisis.
