Bailey Nurseries names Jorge Becerra as new CEO

Bailey Nurseries has appointed Jorge Becerra as its new CEO, marking the first time in its 120-year history that the company will be led by someone outside the founding family.

Fourth-generation family member Terri McEnaney will transition from CEO to board chair, continuing her involvement in the company’s leadership. The move reflects a long-term plan to evolve Bailey’s leadership structure while remaining committed to its horticultural roots and values.

Becerra brings more than 25 years of experience in global agriculture, having held several leadership roles at Cargill within its Animal Nutrition & Health businesses. He was raised in Ecuador, where his family operated one of the country’s first commercial shrimp farms. He later earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in aquaculture from Texas A&M University.

“This moment is the result of years of planning to evolve our structure while continuing to support the Bailey Nurseries team, our customers and partners and our core values,” said McEnaney.

Becerra cited Bailey’s culture and values as key to his decision to join the company.

Both Becerra and McEnaney will be based at Bailey Nurseries main office in St. Paul, Minnesota. The leadership transition is effective immediately.
