New ANLA President Takes OfficeSource: ANLA News

Dwight Hughes Jr, Dwight Hughes Nursery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assumed presidency of the American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) during the Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. He stated, “During my year as president, I will work to continue ANLA’s efforts to build our relationships with state associations. Through the Lighthouse program, ANLA can now activate a grassroots network of more than 15, 000 state association member businesses.” He has a long legacy of innovation in the industry and has served on the board and as president of the Horticultural Research Institute (HRI).

The ANLA Lighthouse program is a project Hughes has worked to build together with ANLA’s leadership and staff. This program sees state associations make a financial commitment to join the nursery and landscape industry’s national grassroots network, and allows them to gain access to policy briefs and to receive legislative calls-to-action on key industry issues. This multimillion endowment provides a great deal of funds to the industry, including $350,000 last year to fund research scholarships.
