The American Floral Endowment’s Sustainabloom program has released three guides aimed at promoting social sustainability within the floriculture industry. Developed by researchers at NC State University, the guides address key topics such as employee education, health benefits, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

“By sharing new research and knowledge on these key areas of social sustainability, these guides are designed to empower employers in creating a healthier, more engaged, and diverse workforce in the floriculture industry,” said melinda knuth, a researcher at NC State University.

A preview of each of the three new guides is shown with the Sustainabloom logo and a field of tulips in the background. The guides include the “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Employee Sustainability Guide,” which provides strategies to improve workplace inclusivity, the “Employee Continued Education and Professional Development Guide,” emphasizing ongoing training, and the “Health and Parental Leave Benefits Guide,” which outlines the importance of health insurance and parental leave for employee wellbeing.

These resources aim to help floral businesses build supportive and sustainable workplaces, contributing to a stronger, more resilient workforce.
