Singin’ the Blues in 2020 By Tim Hodson

Last week, the color experts at Pantone announced that Classic Blue will be the Color of the Year in 2020.

Officially, the color is Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue.

According to Pantone, Classic Blue is a timeless and enduring hue elegant in its simplicity that has reassuring qualities. It is non-aggressive and easily relatable and lends itself to relaxed interaction.

The color “brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser-like clarity, Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.”

Commenting on the selection, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on.”

She adds, “Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, [it] encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”

That is what the color experts say … what do you say about Classic Blue?

Will you be able to capitalize on Pantone’s choice in the New Year? Are you growing any varieties that fall into the Classic Blue category? Will you be singin’ the benefits of Classic Blue in 2020?
