PW Removes Some Perennials From ProgramSource: Proven Winners

Effective immediately, Proven Winners (PW) has decided to remove three varieties out of the Proven Winners Perennial program. Lobelia Color Spires Cranberry Crush, Lilac and White are very good varieties, according to PW, but after further evaluation and trials the company has found that these varieties perform better regionally, particularly in western areas. Performance throughout North America is a key standard of being PW, according to PW.

EuroAmerican Propagators and Nordic Nurseries will continue to carry all three varieties during the 2004-05 season, EuroAmerican will then move the series into the Proven Selections Perennials program once PW Perennials tags are used. Other PW propagators will stop carrying these varieties once availability is exhausted and honor orders they currently have in house.

Regarding availability of Proven Winners Perennials items from tissue culture (TC), it was previously announced that TC items would not be available from all propagators until January 1, 2005. Since there was a stronger than anticipated production, shipments of TC items will instead begin earlier, approximately on November 15, 2004.
