Target Adds Smith & HawkenSource: Target

Target announced last week that it has signed a deal that will bring upscale gardening and outdoor living brand Smith & Hawken to its stores. Smith & Hawken will design an exclusive line of items that will be available in Target garden centers in late 2005 and in Target stores nationwide in March 2006.

“The addition of Smith & Hawken allows us to continue surprising our guests with well-respected brands at accessible prices,” says Gregg Steinhafel, president, Target. “Premium outdoor furniture and decor from Smith & Hawken are the perfect complement to our existing garden and patio offerings, reinforcing our position as a destination for outdoor living.”

Barry Sanders, president of Smith & Hawken, said the Target partnership is a perfect fit. “Since 1979, gardeners have known Smith & Hawken stands for uncompromising quality,” Sanders said. “We are excited that Target guests will be able to experience the quality and integrity of the Smith & Hawken brand when they visit Target stores next year.”

Smith & Hawken is an American marketer of garden-inspired outdoor living products, including Premium Teak furniture, Heirloom Tools collection, Eden Park garden structures and Hamilton Landing containers. Based in Novato, Calif., Smith & Hawken is a division of Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.
