Grower Goes On The Internet Auction BlockSource: Various

MerryGro Farms, Eustis, Fla., announced it is restructuring its operations and liquidating assets by online auction. The sale is expected to be the green industry’s largest online auction ever.

The company plans to sell all of its greenhouse equipment and supplies, its fleet of trucks and trailers, shipping carts and nursery wagons, tractors, farm implements and even its Web site.

In the past, Andre Raab, MerryGro’s president and CEO, has been a big proponent of using the Internet for E-commerce. “As long as buyers have Internet access, they can bid anytime anywhere. This means that there will be a large pool of competitive bidders to ensure fair prices,” Raab said.

West Auctions, Woodland, Calif. will be coordinating the auction, which will take place Nov. 29-Dec. 6, 2006, at www.westauction.com.
