Fafard Completes New Research ProgramSource: Conrad Fafard, Inc.

Conrad Fafard, Inc. has completed a six-month research trial blending academic and practical research in large-scale commercial greenhouses. Called the Fafard Research Leader Program, the trial was designed to test advanced potting media formulations and examine how different raw materials, soil amendments and additives used in growing media perform in different greenhouse settings.

The three-phase project was aimed at helping growers achieve healthier and more profitable plants, and Fafard hopes it will become a model for future studies. Phase I focused on unrooted cuttings and seedlings, Phase 2 centered on finished plants and Phase 3 studied garden soil or container garden media.

Research was conducted by trained interns and involved 311 individual experiments, evaluating 37 plant types at 27 greenhouses and distinct locations in 13 states. To learn more about the study, visit http://www.syngenta.com.
