AFE Announces Officers, TrusteesSource: American Floral Endowment

The American Floral Endowment announced its new officers and trustees at its recent annual fundraising dinner.

Paul Bachman, Bachman’s Inc. in Minneapolis, began his two-year term as chairman of the Endowment on Sept. 20. A veteran of the industry, Paul began working in the family business when he was 13. He was the recipient of the SAF Marketer of the Year Award in 2011 and is a past chairman of the American Floral Marketing Council, a past chairman of the National PromoFlor Marketing Council, a past director of SAF and a past president of the Minnesota State Florists Association. Bachman has served on the AFE Board of Trustees since 2004.

Ken Altman, Altman Plants in Vista, Calif., was named AFE treasurer/secretary and will serve in this capacity for three years. Altman also serves on the executive board of the San Diego Farm Bureau and is a member of the California Association of Nurserymen and the Garden Centers’ Nursery Growers Leadership Board. Ken is also managing director and founder of the Center for Applied Horticultural Research.

Tom Butler of Teleflora will remain on the board serving as past chairman. The remaining Executive Committee members include Charles Kremp, Kremp Florist; Dave Niklas, Clackamas Greenhouses; and Dwight Larimer, DESIGN MASTER Color Tool, Inc.

Jim Daly, Floralife, Inc., Eric Levy, Hillcrest Gardens, and Ken Young,  Phoenix Flower Shops were named to AFE’s board of trustees.
