Diascia

Sundiascia is a completely new form of diascia that offers a stunning show of color. Tall stems boldly display 3-inch flower spikes. This new shape also saves growing and shipping space and prevents breakage from the center.

These new diascia have an upright habit and reach 12 to 15 inches tall and spread 18 to 20 inches. They can be used in pots and landscapes and work well as a thriller in combinations.

A well-drained peat/perlite mix is recommended. Maintain soil pH at 5.6 to 6.0. Apply constant feed at 200 ppm with a complete water-soluble fertilizer. Maintain temperature at 70 to 75° F days and 60° F nights.

Plant one liner per 4-inch pot (ready in five to seven weeks), one to two liners per 6-inch pot (ready in seven to nine weeks), and four to five liners per 10-inch basket (ready in nine to 11 weeks).

Pests to watch for are mites and aphids. Botrytis may affect finished flowers and foliage.

For plant growth regulation, apply 10- to 15-ppm Sumagic spray as needed.
