ChemChina, Syngenta Deal Gets FTC Approval

Last week, the U.S Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission approved ChemChina’s proposed acquisition of Syngenta.

The transaction was also approved in Mexico by the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica.

The approvals are seen as a major step towards the closing of the $43 billion transaction, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2017.

To win approval from the FTC, the companies agreed to divest ChemChina’s generic production of three products; the herbicide paraquat; abamectin insecticide; and chlorothalonil, a funcgicide
