A Sneak Peek at Spring Trials — Vol. 3 By Jasmina Dolce

The countdown continues! In my last two newsletters, I have shared some previews of the various introductions that will be on display at the California Spring Trials next month. Today, the annual trek down the coast is just 24 days away. Are you prepared?

Rose Pretty Polly
Star Roses and Plants

Available in lavender, pink and white, this polyantha rose has excellent flowering from spring through fall. It maintains a very pleasing compact habit in the landscape and is nearly thornless.

Leontopodium ‘Alpine Sensation’
Pacific Plug & Liner

This new breeding project was aimed at finding a taller plant with larger flowers from those seen natively in the Alps. ‘Alpine Sensation can be planted in the fall for an early spring finish but does not need vernalization, so it can also be planted in the spring for a mid-spring finish. It reaches 12 to 15 inches tall and is hardy to Zone 3.

Petunia ‘Supertunia Raspberry Rush’
Proven Winners

The new Raspberry Rush is destined to be a top seller with major impulse appeal. Lush plants are covered in raspberry-pink and white patterned flowers that start early and last all season without deadheading. Gardeners will love the great heat and humidity tolerance.

Gerbera ‘Patio Gerbera Pinnacles’

Patio Gerberas are voluminous plants with stunning palm-sized flowers. They create an instant “Wow!” effect wherever they are placed. Pinnacles is especially spectacular with semi-double red flowers. It is a show stopper and adds a true finishing touch to any outdoor area.

Salvia ‘So Cool Pale Blue’

This evergreen bushy tender hardy perennial features distinct flower color and large, free flowering blooms. The icy blue flowers are eye catching in early summer to autumn. It is easy to care for, and attracts butterflies and bees.

Pentas Graffiti 20/20
Benary

Graffiti 20/20 is the next generation of pentas. The series was bred to be the earliest series and have the best pack performance on the market. Look for better plug growth and vigor than comparable varieties; extreme uniformity in the pack and tight flower clusters ensure maximum color at retail.
