Home Depot Announces Spring Hiring Plans By Tim Hodson

On Feb. 11, the Home Depot said it would be hiring 80,000 employees this spring in preparation for its busiest season of the year.

This follows the January announcement from Lowe’s that it planned to hire 53,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal associates for its 1,700+ stores in the United States.

According to Home Depot, jobseekers will be able to apply for both full-time and part-time positions close to home, as 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of a Home Depot store. The home improvement retailer has nearly 2,300 store in the U.S.

Many of the part-time positions will be staffed in Depot’s garden center, which gives associates “a chance to work with their hands and help neighbors start spring projects.”

To help employees get up to speed quickly, the company provides innovative training programs and tools, including a game-ified mobile app, e-learning and on-the-job coaching.

To entice new employees, the Home Depot provides tailored benefits to support any stage of life for all part-time and full-time associates, including tuition reimbursement, backup dependent care for children and elders, and discounts on store items. Additionally, all associates are eligible for paid family leave after one year of service.
