AAS Announces Landscape Design Contest WinnersSource: All-America Selections

All-America Selections has chosen the winners of its second annual Landscape Design Contest, after a 20 percent increase in the number of entries.

All-America Selections has chosen the winners of its second annual Landscape Design Contest.

This year’s contest saw a 20 percent increase in the number of entries compared to 2012.

This contest is a landscape design contest incorporating AAS Winners, past and present. Each garden is responsible for creating and executing the design, generating publicity surrounding the contest then submitting the photos, proof of publicity and an overall description of their design.

Category I Winners (with fewer than 10,000 visitors per year):

First Place: LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens, Baton Rouge, La.
Second Place : University of Wisconsin Spooner Ag Research Station, Teaching and Display Garden, Spooner, Wis.
Third Place : Meredith Public Library Garden, Meredith, N.H.

Honorable Mention, Most Educational Garden: ISU Polk County Master Gardener’s Demonstration Garden, Urbandale, Iowa

Category II Winners (10,001-100,000 visitors per year):

First Place: Agriculture Canada Ornamental Gardens, Ottawa, Ontario
Second Place : The Arboretum State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky.
Third Place : Jardin Daniel A Séguin, Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec

Category III Winners (over 100,000 visitors per year):

First Place: Rotary Botanical Gardens, Janesville, Wis.
Second Place : Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver, Colo.
Third Place : Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, Ky.
