Farwest Show 2025 highlights awards and new introductions
The 2025 Farwest Show recognized exhibitor creativity, new plant introductions and rose trial winners during its annual event, which concluded Aug. 22 at the Oregon Convention Center.
Youngblood Nursery of Salem, Oregon, received the Ted Van Veen Best in Show booth award, earning a free 10-by-10 space at the 2026 event. Division winners included Blooming Nursery, Bountiful Farms, Red Pig Garden Tools, Northwest Nursery Buyers Association and RAYN Growing Systems. Three exhibitors — J&S Nursery Sales, The Pottery Patch and Hopper Bros. — were honored with Far From Ordinary booth awards.
The International Rose Test Garden also presented awards during the show. Tequila Supreme, introduced by Star Roses, won the Gold Medal. Springhill Nurseries/Weeks Roses earned two honors with ‘All Dressed Up,’ named Portland’s Best, and ‘Fashion Forward,’ awarded Most Fragrant.
In the New Varieties Showcase, Alpenglow hybrid maple, hybridized by Paul Halladin and introduced by Iseli Nursery, was named People’s Choice Best in Show. Judges also selected Glow Sticks Fescue as Best in Show, with additional Awards of Merit presented to ‘Summerina Firana’ black-eyed susan, a new hydrangea from Bloomin’ Easy Plants and daphne ‘Perfume Princess White’ from Anthony Tesselaar Plants.
