FloraLife Introduces New Postharvest Treatment

FloraLife, a division of Smithers-Oasis Company, has introduced FloraLife Shield, a postharvest treatment designed for protecting flowers from the negative elements in the environment throughout the distribution journey from grower to consumer.

The new postharvest treatment is designed for growers to increase the quality, consistency and uniformity of flowers. By integrating the use of FloraLife Shield into farm harvesting practices, product loss can be reduced significantly, and product quality can be maximized, allowing for better profits.

Since FloraLife Shield reduces grower scrap, it also supports the sustainability initiatives identified in the FloraLife 2025 Sustainability Plan launched in 2019. The initiative is a long-term plan targeted for 2025 that implements the reduce, re-use, recycle and respect principles in four areas: water, innovation, production and consumption, and climate action.

Available in 1-liter and 5-liter sizes, FloraLife Shield treatment is a concentrated liquid that must be diluted with water before applying. It can be applied by spray or dip to flowers after they have been harvested. The product has been tested extensively on roses and FloraLife supports testing on any additional floral varieties. Availability depends on geographical region. Contact your FloraLife sales representative for more details.
