GPN Names New Managing Editor

Great American Media Services, publisher of Greenhouse Product News (GPN), has hired Heather Machovina as managing editor.

Machovina has a background in both horticulture and journalism. She served as the plant tissue culture laboratory manager at Agri-Starts Inc., in Apopka, Florida, for more than a decade. While there she led scheduling and inventory monitoring; created measures to monitor employee productivity, ensured a safe work environment, and set quality standards; and guided tissue culture production of at least 35 plant genera and over 120 plant varieties, while establishing new plant varieties in vitro for improved product sales.

She has also been a freelance writer in the industry, whose wide-ranging work was published in trade magazines in the horticulture and agriculture industries, and with Central Florida Media Group.
