Green Circle Growers Donates Plants to Homebound Seniors

Green Circle Growers in Oberlin, Ohio, plans donated 300 Fiddle Leaf fig plants to homebound senior citizens this holiday season through an organization called Enrichment Centers for Huron County, which provides programs and services designed to enrich the quality of life for seniors. The Oberlin-based greenhouse delivered the  plants to the Enrichment Center on Dec. 20. The Enrichment Center will coordinate drop-off to individuals throughout the week prior to the holiday.

Enrichment Centers for Huron County provides vital services to Huron County seniors. With two locations in Willard and Norwalk, seniors can participate in group activities like arts and crafts, as well as a mentorship program with local schools too so they can stay engaged with the community. The Center’s expansive services also include delivering hot meals Monday through Friday to the homebound, offering transportation to those who need it, and even providing fun outings for groups to see baseball games and take day trips.

Last year, the center partnered with Green Circle Growers to provide seasonal poinsettias to the homebound, creating this now enduring partnership.  This year, recipients will receive a gift package that includes a mix of donated and purchased holiday items. Due to this year’s donation from Green Circle Growers, the center was able to use additional funding to purchase more for the gift bags.

The Center chose Fiddle Leaf fig plants to give seniors a living present that would remain vibrant beyond the holiday season. Each plant came with detailed plant care instructions.

“We wanted to create a wow moment during this season to bring joy and happiness to those who may need it most during the holidays,” says Enrichment Centers for Huron County Director Steve Beal. “We are so grateful to Green Circle Growers for allowing us the chance to spread happiness this year with plants and to expand our holiday gifting with something recipients will continue to enjoy all year long.”
