New Online Mite Resource AvailableSource: The Center for Plant Health Science and Technology

The Center for Plant Health Science and Technology (CPHST) Identification Technology Program recently released a new tool to help growers identify invasive mites. Invasive Mite Identification: Tools for Quarantine and Plant Protection is an on-line resource with nine different tools containing interactive keys, fact sheets and images for recognizing mites.

The tools provide training in mite anatomy, preliminary identification and advanced taxonomic identification. The site also contains a glossary with more than 700 defined terms and other taxonomic classification information.

The program was created through federal-state collaboration between USDA/APHIS/PPQ/CPHST and Colorado State University with additional cooperation from the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the University of Alberta-Edmonton.
