Runkle to Present GLASE Webinar on Growing Leafy Greens

GPN contributor Erik Runkle from Michigan State University will present a webinar on “Environmental Regulation of Growth and Quality Attributes of Indoor Leafy Greens” on Sept. 30. at 2 p.m.

The webinar is part of the GLASE (Greenhouse Lighting & Systems Engineering) webinar series.

The light environment predominantly regulates yield and quality of leafy greens grown indoors. Other environmental parameters can modify light responses, such as temperature and carbon dioxide concentration.

In this webinar, Erik will focus on the effects of the photon flux density and spectrum at regulating lettuce when grown hydroponically in vertical layers.

He will also share some research highlights from colleagues that are part of the Optimizing Indoor Agriculture (OptimIA) project that focuses on the vertical farming of leafy greens.
