Suntory Flowers expands green wall system
Suntory Flowers Limited acquired Suntory Flowers Midorie (Shanghai) and will develop indoor and outdoor green wall systems using Pafcal, a material developed as an alternative to soil.
Pafcal is designed to maintain an almost uniform balance of water and air from top to bottom, a critical factor for plant growth in horticulture and greenhouse operations. The material is lightweight, molded to retain its shape, and avoids the staining issues common with soil. The system also allows users to change plant types according to the season, event or store renovations.
Naoki Oikawa, president of Suntory Flowers Midorie (Shanghai), said, “Our wall greening system, which began with the development of Pafcal, a new material that replaces soil, has given form to a system that allows people living in urban areas to participate in the creation of a green environment.”
The acquisition and product innovation are set to expand the company’s wall and individual greening business from Asia to Europe, the Americas and Australia.
