UF greenhouse training to host weed management course

The University of Florida IFAS Extension will offer its next Greenhouse Training Online course, Weed Management, from Nov. 3 to Dec. 5. The four-week program focuses on weed identification, herbicide use and non-chemical control methods for greenhouses and nurseries.

The course is taught by Chris Marble, associate professor of ornamental and landscape weed management in the university’s environmental horticulture department. Marble’s instruction emphasizes the importance of identifying weed species before applying treatments.

Weed Management is part of UF’s Plant Health Professional Certificate program and is available in both English and Spanish. All course materials are offered online and include videos, quizzes and interactive discussions. Two modules are released each week for a total of eight learning segments, with an estimated five hours of study time per week.

Participants can complete the course at their own pace within the four-week period. There is a fee for the program, and a 20% discount is available for groups of five or more.

Registration and additional details are available at hort.ifas.ufl.edu/training.
